Since 1990 Next Act has been one of Milwaukee's premier professional theater companies. They are know for producing plays that are passionate, often bold, sometimes humorous and always up-close-and-personal presentations of life. Through its history Next Act has called many leased venues "home" before building a true and permanent home for themselves.
Next Act acquired the former Transpak Crane Bay building at 255 S. Water Street. At the time it was an empty shell, originally used to load and unload large equipment from flatbed semi’s for international shipping. Quorum Architects designed the conversion. The new complex houses Next Act’s administrative offices, rehearsal hall, production support areas and a 152 seat theatre. Besides Next Act, a variety of theater companies now use the facility as their performance spaces.
